
A triplet of international IT events open in Seoul on June 17.
The Korea Communications Conference is being held for two days at the Convention & Exhibition Center (COEX) in Seoul. It opens on June 17 under the theme Media Convergence and After. The World IC Summit also opens for a one-day event at the same location the same day. In addition, the World IT Show (WIS) is being held at COEX from June 17 until 20.
The Korea Communications Commission (KCC), the host of this triplet of events, expects that they will serve as a forum for international debate to analyze the current status of the information and communications industry and present future strategies and visions for it. Participants of the events will discuss policy direction for the competitiveness of media convergence, visions and strategies for the success of digital content, and new business strategies under the new environment of IC convergence.
For the Korea Communications Conference, media experts from 12 countries including the US, the UK, France, Germany, China and Japan will take part in the presentations. The conference will consist of a keynote session, 12 general sessions, and a super-panel session.
In the keynote session, Gaku Ishizaki, vice minister of internal affairs and communications of Japan, will make a presentation on "The Future of Media Convergence: Issues in Policy and Regulation." Emiliano Calemzuk, president of the American news corporation Fox TV, and Georges Penalver, senior executive vice president of France Telecom, will present on "The Future of Media Convergence : Business Models for a New Era."
In the super-panel session, panelists will present strategies and visions for leading sectors of the IC industry such as IPTV, mobile, and Internet services, to enhance its global competitiveness in the era of media convergence.
Experts from Time Warner, Disney/ABC International Television, BBC, 2waytraffic, Clearwire, OVUM, Television Business International/TBI Digital, and Content Asia will lead business sessions based on their abundant expertise and analysis of the industry.
Meanwhile, WIS 2009 will be held until June 20 under the theme “Feel the New Convergence for Green IT,” with the participation of about 500 IT firms and organizations.
