MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., - Based on its recent analysis of the mobile biometrics market, Frost & Sullivan recognizes  Hoyos Labs   with the 2014 North America Frost & Sullivan Award for Customer Value Leadership. Hoyos Labs recently introduced a highly precise and user-friendly mobile application which helps prevent online identity theft. As a biometric-based system, it eliminates the need to memorize usernames and passwords.

Hoyos Labs introduced the app for Android and iPhone consumer devices. Its "liveness detection" technology can distinguish between the real person and a false image or video in less than 15 seconds, enhancing its value proposition. The app will be formally introduced to consumers this September.

"Hoyos Labs' app employs a multi-biometric recognition system including the face, iris, and periocular regions to certify the genuineness of a user," said Frost & Sullivan Senior Analyst Ram Ravi . "Such in-built robust functionalities deliver a differentiated ownership experience to end users and surpass basic customer expectation levels."

Hoyos Labs' app stands out for its innovation, convenience, high scalability and comprehensiveness. Using this application, the consumer's device extracts one's biometric components, doing away with the need for any additional hardware, usernames and passwords, after which it interacts with the embedded software and gains access to back-end data prior to identity authentication. This end-to-end, customer-driven procedure manages unmet needs in identity security.

The app collaborates with third-party corporate databases to provide additional security benefits to data-dependent organizations. Furthermore, to better position its product, Hoyos Labs incorporated the Visual Liveness Method into the app. The app incorporates three facets of Hoyos Liveness: eye-tracking augmented sensing (ETAS), corneal photonic sensing (CPS), and photoplethysmography or vitals sensing (VS).

The ETAS uses facial expressions such as smiles, eyebrow raises and blinks, and combines them with its proprietary eye-tracking algorithm to verify the identity of the user. The CPS measures photons as they hit the cornea, and the VS detects vital factors on a remote basis. Additionally, Hoyos Labs has created an entire division dedicated to developing technologies to counter false images.

Hoyos Labs' keen focus on liveness research is evident in its continuing practice of cultivated evolution of generations of liveness technology in anticipation of customer threats. The enthusiastic response to the app has encouraged the company to expand its scope of its application to the financial services space.

"Overall, Hoyos has successfully integrated its knowledge in biometrics, IT, and technology spaces to build an innovative and cost-effective identity authentication product," noted Ram Ravi. "Its versatile and flexible culture has enabled it to create an unparalleled platform to address rising customer needs for data security."

Each year, Frost & Sullivan presents this award to the company that has demonstrated excellence in implementing strategies that proactively create value for its customers with a focus on improving the return on the investment that customers make in its services or products. The award recognizes the company's inordinate focus on enhancing the value that its customers receive, beyond simply good customer service, leading to improved customer retention and, ultimately, customer base expansion.

Frost & Sullivan Best Practices Awards recognize companies in a variety of regional and global markets for demonstrating outstanding achievement and superior performance in areas such as leadership, technological innovation, customer service and strategic product development. Industry analysts compare market participants and measure performance through in-depth interviews, analysis and extensive secondary research to identify best practices in the industry.
