I have watched the Korea IT Times grow over the last five years to become the leader of Information Technology journals. The Korea IT Times has been presenting Korea’s well-developed IT industry to the world through its timely, unbiased, and well-written English articles. I am excited to watch the increase in importance and presence of the Korea IT Times alongside the development of the IT industry of Korea.
A crucial factor in the development of the IT industry, and the world in general, has been IBM’s Smarter Planet agenda. Smarter Planet is IBM's point of view on how interconnected technologies are changing the way the world literally works. That is, the systems and processes that enable physical goods to be developed, manufactured, bought and sold; services to be delivered; everything from people and money to oil, water and electrons to move; and billions of people to work, govern themselves and live. New levels of global integration mean that we are all now connected – economically, technically and socially. But being connected is not sufficient. We also have to infuse intelligence into our systems and ways of working. The world has become flatter and smaller. Now it must become smarter. The kinship shared between IBM and the Korea IT Times is a testament to the acknowledgment of IBM’s Smarter Planet agenda.
I am confident that the Korea IT Times will have another fruitful year and continue to provide genuine and insightful news vital to the globalization efforts of Korea’s IT industry. May you continue to thrive as a leading publication.
