SEOUL, KOREA - Genesis BBQ, the No. 1 chicken franchise in Korea, opened a direct-run store in Tokyo.The company announced that it has opened the “bb-q Premium Chicken Shibuya” shop on July 15, aimed at capitalizing on Korea’s “chi-maek (chicken + beer)” fever in Japan.

 

The opening of the “bb-q Premium Chicken Shibuya” came in four years after Genesis BBQ ended its master franchise contract with Japan’s Rex in 2010. Bb-q is Genesis BBQ’s new brand created to prevent foreigners from misunderstanding BBQ as barbecue.

AGenesis BBQ official said, “We will spare no effort in developing the bb-q Shibuya store into a place visited frequently by young people there.”Bb-q Shibuya will prepare as many as 50 menus, of which 20 arechicken menus including the trademark Golden Olive Chicken.

bb-q Shibuya will also offer a variety of rice and salad dishes and Japanese-style chicken menus.Genesis BBQ plans to increase the number of its locations in Japan up to 20 by the end of this year.
