The Korea IT Times said Wednesday that it signed a cooperation agreement with KPIPA, and the CEPA to jointly lay the groundwork for the expansion of Hallyu to Korean publications and to mount international marketing campaigns for Korean publication contents .

At the tri-party agreement signing ceremony, Lee Jae-ho, Chairman of KPIPA, Chung Youn-soo, Publisher of The Korea IT Times, Kim Soo-dong, Head of the CEPA and nearly 10 other officials pledged their joint commitment to globally promote Korean publications and spur on the spillover of Hallyu into the Korean publication industry.

Under the agreement, the three parties will collaborate in the following four areas: i) Joint publication of books between domestic and overseas universities and support for distribution ii) Launching various cooperation projects for the expansion of Hallyu to Korean publications iii) Development of joint projects related to the hosting of digital book fairs and provision of mutual support iv) Overseas promotion of the nation’s excellent publication contents.

The signing of the tri-party agreement came as part of KPIPA’s Global K-book Promotion project, which has been carried out under KPIPA’s 5-Year Plan for the Promotion of S. Korea’s Publishing & Culture Industry. The three parties are expected to jointly set about the overseas promotion of Korean publications though varied platforms from now on.

As a front-line promoter of the nation’s publishing and culture industry, KPIPA has been conducting various researches, nurturing talent, promoting reading and supporting the export of Korean publications to overseas markets.

The CEPA is a voluntarily-created private organization, dedicated to realizing the government’s creative economy vision through job creation. To that end, the CEPA has been intent on discovering and commercializing creative ideas; helping the youth and women and failed ex-entrepreneurs start businesses; and assisting venture firms.
