Magellan Maestro

GPS maker Magellan is expanding its Maestro line of in-vehicle navigation systems with the Magellan Maestro 4700, which features a big 4.7-inch display, built-in voice commands, highway lane assist, and Magellan's OneTouch user interface for quickly bringing up favorite destinations. And, in a new twist, the Maestro 4700 offers a new "find your car" Pedestrian Mode feature that can automatically bring users back to where they left their car.

"We have incorporated voice command, Bluetooth, and highway lane assist to help you reach your destination with confidence," said Magellan senior director for product marketing Mike Wagner, in a statement. "The large 4.7-inch screen is easily viewable in all lighting conditions. Thanks to our unique OneTouch favorites menu and our AAA partnership, the Magellan Maestro 4700 makes trip planning and traveling easier and less stressful."

The Maestro 4700 incorporates Bluetooth calling capability so folks with a compatible cell phone can access up to 1,000 numbers in their address books directly from the Maestro 4700; the unit includes a noise-canceling microphone for easy hands-free calling. The Maestro 4700 also boat a predictive traffic feature that analyzes past traffic patterns when forming routes to get around known delay points; users can stick with their normal routes or go with one of the suggested alternatives. The unit also features larger fonts, 3D landmarks, and highway lane assist to help drivers make sure they're in the proper lanes for exits and merges. Users looking for something to do can tap into a searchable point-of-interest database, including the AAA TourBook guide (exclusive to Magellan).

The Magellan Maestro 4700 carries a suggested price of $299, and ships with a windshield mount (with adhesive disc for on-dash mounting) and a 12 volt power adapter.
