It’s my pleasure to congratulate the Korea IT Times on its fifth anniversary. Using English as a tool, and based on information and communications, the Korea IT Times has shown new business vistas to its readers at home and abroad, business leaders in the industry, and those in and out of academia. As both an online news provider and an offline journal, this English monthly has contributed to the development of IT journalism; quite a new field in the IT industry in the country.
We all believe in Korea’s potential. Faith will bring pride, and pride will invoke a sense of mission. When I was in the government in the past and as I am in academia now, I used to believe, and currently believe, in the boundless potential of the country, the people and the young students. I believe our future will depend on the future of the young students; science and technology majors in particular.
I firmly believe they will further develop Korea based on the knowledge they are learning on and off campus now. The industry and media should play a role in educating these young students on their ambitious path to their bright future. I believe media outlets such as the Korea IT Times will help the younger generation, as well as business leaders, chart the future course of the nation.
As president of Konkuk University, I can say Konkuk is a leader in the field of interdisciplinary studies, including information and communications, which are essential for future generations. As Konkuk develops remarkably towards a bright future, I hope the Korea IT Times will also develop its bright future for many years to come.
Dr.Oh Myung, president of Konkuk University
