SEOUL, KOREA - LG Electronics plans to release a clamshell-like smartphone that is foldable like an old mobile phone.LG Electronics displayed the image of the clamshell smartphone at LG Wine Smart event website (lg wine smart-event.com).

LG Electronics released the teaser-type public relations image prior to the launch of official sales.The company, however, did not yet reveal the specs and main features of the brand-new smartphone in detail.

Considering that the clamshell-type smartphone has relatively large-sized buttons, it is expected to target the elderly people who still use mobile phones due to difficulty in using smartphones.

The teaser image has a wine-colored background, indicating that it would be a successor to LG’s wine phone series launched first in 2007. This will be the sixth wine phone,including mobile phone models, but the first smartphone among wine phone series.
