SEOUL, KOREA - Naver has delayed the overseas listing of its mobile messenger Line toward next year. Naver has been pursuing to list Line in an overseas stock market. This delay is interpreted as that Naver will attempt to list Line after raising the latter’s corporate value first by increasing the number of its actual users.
The company made it public on September 22 that it is reviewing the idea of listing Line in Japan or the United States. However, it will not pursue the listing within this year.
A company official said, “Considering that Line is now growing at a rapid and healthy pace, we think this is not a good time to pursue IPO.”
Previously, LINE submitted IPO-related documents to the Tokyo Stock Exchange and the U.S.Securities and Exchange Commission in July, raising expectations that it would be listed within this year.
