SEOUL, KOREA - LG CNS announced on September 23 that it won an order from Poland’s largest electric power company TauronDystrybucja S.A. to supply and establish 48 billion won worth of AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure) and related systems. This is the largest single smart grid order among those undertaken by Korean companies.
LG CNS obtained this order by forming a consortium with Denmark’s Eltel Networks, Poland’s Eltel Networks Olsztyn and World IT Systems. The AMI is key smart grid equipment that varies the prices of electric power depending on the supply and demand situation.
For 330,000 households in Wroclaw and its neighboring areas in Poland, LG CNS will install one AMI per single household, starting from this month to April 2017.
As the European Union made it mandatory for its member countries to install AMI up to 80 percent of overall households, Poland had to complete the installation of AMI for 16 million households within the next six years.
