
Samsung SDI announced on October 1 that it signed a deal with Green Charge Networks (GCN) of the United States to supply a 25-megawatt-hour commercial energy storage system.25megawatt-hoursare enough to supply energy to about 10,000 households for a single day.
This is the largest ESS commercial supply deal for the North American region.GCN plans to install Samsung SDI’s ESSs in American commercial facilities, including large discount stores, hospitals, hotels, and schools throughout the country.
According to Japan’s market research firm B3, the world’s commercial ESS market is expected to grow 175 percent per year until 2020.The size of the commercial ESS market is forecast to reach about $4 billion by 2020, accounting for 30 percent in the overall ESS market.
