
SEOUL, KOREA - SK Telecom is set tolaunch into smart home business by forming partnerships with a handful of homeelectronics and equipment makers. The company announced on October 2 that itsigned the “Smart Home Business Alliance” agreement with 11 partner companies.
Among the partnercompanies are Kyung Dong Navien (boiler), Gateman (door lock), GE Lighting(lighting), Winix (dehumidifier), Monuel (robot cleaner), Daesung Celtics(boiler), Yujin Robot (robot cleaner), Time Valve (gas interrupter), AutechCarrier (air conditioner), Kumho Electric (lighting), and ipTime (Wi-Firouter).
Smart home is a servicethat creates an interactive environment where users can monitor and controltheir home electronics even in a remote area.
Through this agreement,SKTelecom plans to lead the popularization of smart home in Korea by combiningits Internet of Things service experience with the technological know-how ofthe partnership companies.
