The 2G-based three-bit V-NAND mass-production system came after Samsung established a mass-production system for 1G (24 stack) in August 2013 and 2G (32 stack) in May 2014.
The three-bit V-NAND features a 1.5 times improvement in cell storage capacity. Compared to existing 10 nm-class flat structure NAND products, the three-bit V-NAND improves productivity by more than two times.
At present, Samsung is the world's only semiconductor producer which has a V-NAND mass production system. The company plans to solidify its leading position in the flash memory market. By expanding its SSD line-ups, it plans to boost its market share in the global V-NAND market.
