The 83rd story of a full-length business novel.

Meanwhile, another horrible man-at-arms has come with an image of a bulldog. He is from Japan, very close to the Korean peninsula. His men and their chariots such as Acura (acura), Civic, Accord, Insight, Prelude, Passport, Pilot, Ridgeline, and so on are seen in the main streets of Seoul. He is no other than Honda(本田). His armorial ishon.

When people see the zygal logo, they may imagine a double-edged horn of a bull. In another sight, it looks like a crest with a ‘spiky spear.’ Or it seems to be ‘two erect edged swords’ on the rack. Thus, it is redolent of a typical samurai who caps a steel helmet on his head, belted his sword.  (Below was a picture of a typical Japanese Samurai capped with a sharp, cold steel in the late 19th century. From this imaginative point of view, the logo may point to his hidden ambition to be number one man. Yes, it might be true. In fact, rris written as 本田 in Chinese character. It means the ‘main land’ of the entire Japanese territory. And it points to ‘Honshu Island.’ (The dark-colored island is Honshu. Source: Wikipedia)

If so, it undoubtedly points to the biggest of the entire Japanese islands. In other words, the word of Honda (本田) indirectly signifies Honshu. If so, his hidden mind (Honne) is clear. That is that:

“As the owner of the Honshu Island I am the origin of Japan. So, it is natural for me to be the very Shogun of the entire Japan”

In this way, the daring samurai has a great ambition with the Power of Dream. Here are several instances to point to his dogged character and his Power of Dream. Reputedly, he had been in great difficulty in the past World War Two. At the time, US-B 29 bombers attacked his home ground in Tokai Seiki and completely destroyed it. But he did not despair. Rather, he never doubted he would win it all back. Then he did any toilsome and wearisome job, drained his body of energy with the Power of Dream. And then he arose again and built up this kingdom in the end. From this point of view, he must have known of the simple maxim deeply that:

“Patience is transmissible. At first, it tastes bitter.

But, its fruit tastes sweet in the end.” (苦盡甘來)

In the same context, his lifelong motto might be

If Honda does not race there is no Honda.

Right, it was and is true. Indeed, he, unlike Toyota or Nissan, has stuck to attend the Dakar Rally in the category of motorcycle by himself. Then he has won the championship five times in the 1980s. Further, he has earned the trophy in the Motorcross World Championship six times. After getting the trophies, he said to his men about the secret of his great success as below:

“Life is a given fate. But, success is made by 99% of failures. So success requires endurance. And it can beat 99% of failures. In other words, success depends on endurance and continuous trial and trial with the Power of Dream.”

Here, everybody could see a bulldog image easily from his saying. But, he emphasized that this sort of bulldog spirit was the key to success in life. Then he, like a good teacher to the pupils, said about the Power of Dream cheerfully as below:

“As you know of dream very well, dream is very important to make a life. As for me, it was Daimon like lifeguard. Yes, it was and is and will be my lifeguard, I am confident. In the same context, the American poet, Langston Hughes, composed a rhythmical poem about Dream. I think you might have known of it. But this time, I’d like to recite it once again in order to remind you of it. Let me articulate in a musical tone, so listen carefully:

             ‘Hold fast to dream

            for if dreams die,

            life is a broken-winged bird

            that cannot fly.

Hold fast to dream

            for when dreams go,

            life is a barren field,

            frozen with snow.’”

Then he made a grin.

Then he continued saying that:

“I think it is true. And I fully agree with him. As long as we have hopes, tomorrow awaits a chance for a new move. Of course, I do believe that there is a time for everything. Nonetheless, to have a dream is good and to achieve the dream is worthwhile. In this point, dream is my Daimon. With the Daimon, I have come here and made a success.”

Then he gave them an invaluable advice in a solemn voice that:

“Do not lead a ready-made life like commoners and do not have shortsighted or narrow mind like them. If you do that, you will be seated and sunken in the past, unfruitful forever and, in the end, you will miss a big and wonderful future. Like the poem, hold fast to dream and harden your heart with go-aheadism in your long journey of life. Once again I want you to feed yourself with positive thinking. Then, reedit your life with the power of dreams and dip your thoughts into your own future. Please, let’s go on with the power of dream if and when life irritates us. Then the bright future will be open for you and me.”

All of his speeches were related with his working knowledge and his great success in life. So it was natural that his speech was printed in his men’s mind in depth. Influenced by his good advice, one of his brigadier commanders, named Minoru Honda, insisted on the same dogged but self-reliant character in the campaign in the British Isles. The time was around December in 2000. At the time, he was facing a long and fruitless struggle there owing to the weakness of the Euro currency. Lots of unexpected and unthought things happened in any place. Indeed, danger was everywhere. Day by day the British game looked to be riddled with all kinds of wild cards among money-mongers or gold-diggers as if the game had been a poker game. Here, their betting looked to be unsuccessful. Minoru Honda was also in checkmate.
