SEOUL, KOREA - Daum Kakao said it hasnot respondedto the prosecutors’monitoring warrants since October 7, adding that it will continue to do soforward. Lee Sir-goo,CEO of Daum Kakao, held a press meeting at the Press Center in downtown Seoulon October13.
With respect to therecent cyber censorship dispute, he said, “No matter what, we will place toppriority on the privacy of users. We apologize for causing anxiety and confusionto users due to our easygoing manner of dealing with the issue.”
Lee stressed, “We willplace top priorityon privacy until a socialconsensus is reached about the law and privacy. Since October 7, we have notrespondedto the monitoring warrants and will continue to do so in the future. If any legalproblem arisesdue to this policy, I will personally take full responsibility for it.”
Daum Kakao plans tointroduce the privacy mode which encrypts the dialogue between users, gradually until next year.
