SEOUL, KOREA - SK Hynix achievedrecord-high operating profit in the third quarter of this year thanks to thestrong DRAM market and the improvement in memory chip profitability.The companyposted sales of 4.31 trillion won and operating profit of 1.09 trillion won inthe third quarter of this year.
Operating profit rose11.7 percent year on year and up 20 percent compared to a quarter ago. Thethird-quarter operating profit was higher than analysts’ forecasts (1.27trillion won).Sales rose 5.6 percent year on year and up 9.9 percent comparedto a quarter ago.
The shipments of DRAMsrose 7.0 percent compared to a quarter ago thanks to the expansion in theportion of mid-20-nanometer-class chips, and solid demand for PC and serverDRAMs.
The shipments of NANDflash memories also rose 26.0 percent on the back of the increase in theportion of 10-nm chips, plus solution product-centered supply expansion.
