SEOUL, KOREA - In the ultra HD LCD panel market, LG Display is greatlynarrowing its gap with the front-runner Innolux.According to market researchfirm DisplaySearch on October 28, Taiwan’s Innolux ranked No. 1 in the globalUHD LCD panel market in terms of shipments in September 2014, with a share of32.8 percent.
LG Display ranked No. 2 with a share of 28.2 percent,narrowing its gap with the front-runner by 4.6 percentage points.Consideringthat the gap between them was 15 percent in August 2014 (38.6% for Innolux and23.8% for LG Display), LG narrowed the gap sharply in September.
Innolux’s shipments stood at 785,000 units in September,down 10.3 percent from a month ago, while those of LG Display jumped 24.8percent to 674,000 units.
In particular, 55-inch models—the mainstay of the UHDpanel market—accounted for the largest share of 270,000 units in LG Display’stotal shipments.
