SEOUL, KOREA - Samsung Electronics moved up by one notch to No. 8 in the world’s top-100 brand list compiled by U.S.business magazine Forbes. Apple Inc. maintained its lead for four straight years.
According to the top-100 brand ranking released by Forbes on November 5, Apple’s brand value is estimated at US$124.2 billion, up 19 percent from a year ago. This is about two times higher than those of Microsoft.Microsoft ranked No. 2 with a brand value of $63.0 billion, up 11 percent from a year ago.
Following Microsoft were Google ($56.6 billion), Coca-Cola ($56.1 billion), IBM ($47.9 billion), McDonald’s ($39.9 billion), and General Electric ($37.1 billion).
Samsung moved up one step to the 8th place with a brand value of $35.0 billion, up 19 percent year on year.Hyundai Motor jumped up ten steps to No. 71, with its brand value estimated at $7.8 billion, up 20 percent year on year.
