SEOUL, KOREA - Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, LS Industrial Systems, and the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) were included in the top-100 global innovators list, compiled by global consulting firm Thomson-Reuters.
Thomson-Reuters issued the top-100 global innovators list on November 6. It designated the top-100 global innovators by using as indexes the number of patent applications, the success rate for patent registration, and the accessibility to patent portfolio.
The earnings and R&D investment growth rate of the designated businesses are more than two times higher than those of S&P 500 and Nasdaq innovation companies.
Forty six out of the top-100 global innovators are Asian firms, making Asia the region with the largest number of global innovators. Of the total, 39 firms are Japanese companies, including Sony, Toshiba and Toyota. China’s Huawei joined the list first this year.
