SEOUL, KOREA - Samsung Electronics’cumulative curved TV sales passed the 50,000 mark in the domestic market. Thecompany announced on November 11 that its cumulative curved TV sales passed the10,000 mark in July in five months after it released the world’s first curvedUHD TV in Korea in February 2014.
Its curved TVs weresold more than 10,000 units per month between August and October, bringing thecumulative sales up to more than 50,000 units.
The most popular modelamong Samsung’s curved TVs is the 55-inch mass-market UHD TV (model name:UN55HU7200F) whose monthly sales exceeded the 3,000 units.
When Samsung initiallylaunched curved TVs, it released only premium models. Samsung, however,expanded its lineup towards popular-type curved UHD models and full HD-classcurved TVs, along with the increase in demand.
A Samsung official said,“The sales of curved TVs which took five months to reach 10,000 units, aregrowing at a rapid pace. Today, curved TVs are selling more than 10,000 unitsin a single month, indicating that curved TVs are firmly positioned asnext-generation TVs.”
