The former chief of the North American SEA at Samsung Electronics recalled that as the quality of Samsung products got better at a remarkable speed the value of the Samsung brand achieved a high level of customer trust. Mr. Song emphasized that before one talks about brands and marketing one has to enhance the quality of the products. "That is the key to the success of all businesses," President Song added.
The policy of quality is to adapt everything in the whole production process from planning via design to service for customers. It is often said in information and technology business circles that as far as quality maintenance is concerned, Seoul Commtech would not be second to Samsung. An IP phone supply contract for the init brand of phones with Samsung is one example of how firmly Seoul Commtech put quality as a priority. If Seoul Commtech could not meet the quality needs from Samsung, it might have failed to sign the contract. Samsung is one of the companies that demands the highest quality from suppliers. Seoul Commtech was allowed to conduct quality examinations in its own way by quality inspection and certification authorities.
This stems from the policy that quality is everything and quality always pays off. The digital door locks that Seoul Commtech produces are often cited as a model that met the double-time strengthened standard of quality tests by itself. This was absolutely to enhance trust from customers. The ETC system called Hi- Pass that electronically takes toll gate fees became a legend in that it passed all tests conducted by Korea Expressway Corporation. It was unprecedented that an IT company passed 100 percent in all tests.
President Song said that in order to enhance quality it is essential to hold core technologies in hand. "Without core technologies in hand, quality is hard to get," said the 59 year-old CEO. He also said that no matter how hard it would be to obtain the core technologies and how long it would take to get them, the company should get them.

Seoul Commtech will produce some related technologies and solutions with telecommunication services and devices by maneuvering the IP devices and the home security solutions that Seoul Commtech has. "The competitiveness that Seoul Commtech has will make it possible," said the CEO.
Design is also what Mr. Song has placed as a top priority. He said that decision-making concerning design for a product takes a long time to complete. All personnel working on design take part in discussions and eliminate their differences.
Thanks to that policy Seoul Commtech home network products received the iF Design Award in 2005. Recently its IP phone was awarded the same prize. The prizes helped Seoul Commtech earn worldwide acknowledgement in design and trust from both customers and buyers home and abroad.
The reason that Seoul Commtech, an affiliate to Samsung, has long been leading in the networking and home network fields is that it has secured the strongest competitiveness in technologies. As a matter of fact, Seoul Commtech beat KT and Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) to become the number one company seven years in a row with its most prominent ability to construct information and communication networks. The evaluation was conducted by the Korea Information & Communication Contractors Association in July 2008. In the home network field, Seoul Commtech has also accumulated its know-how by supplying its systems to Tower Palace, Eunpyung New Town and Pankyo New City.
On his management philosophy, President Song said that he has been doing his best to find talent and giving opportunities for them to put their ideas into action. "970 workers, all telecommunication engineers, are the keys to success," emphasized Song. "My job is to let them do what they want to work on," added Song.
Mr. Song also noted that CEOs should reorganize the structure of their companies to obtain synergy effects. He believes that getting rid of overlapping businesses is one of them. By combining the visual technology of home networks with IP phones, Seoul Commtech we could make visual IP phones in which users can see each other on screen. And Seoul Commtech can also combine Hi-Pass with navigation. By doing so, Seoul Commtech can provide mountains of information about traffic.
He unveiled his plan that Seoul Commtech would go abroad to explore new markets. He will broaden his horizon from China, Japan, Hong Kong, and Taiwan to the US to export home networks and digital door locks.
