Seoul Korea - The powertrain mounted on Hyundai Motor’s hydro fuel cell car Tucson won the top-ten engine award in North America.Hyundai Motor revealed on December 11 that the powertrain of the hydro fuel cell car Tucson was selected as the top-ten engines of the year 2015 by the U.S. automobile media Wards Auto.
Hyundai Motor’s hydro fuel cell car Tucson is mounted with a 100-kW fuel cell and a drive motor for which the company developed using its own technologies.The 5.0 Tau engine that is mounted on Hyundai Motor’s Equus has received the same award for three consecutive years starting from 2009 to 2011.
In addition, the 1.6 Gamma engine mounted on Hyundai Motor’s compact car Accent also won this award in 2012.
Included in this year’s top-ten automobile engines are the 127-kW electric motor mounted on BMW i3 electric car, the Ford 1.0 Turbo gasoline engine, and the Volkswagen 1.8 turbo gasoline engine.
