LG Electronics announced on December 28 that it will launch “HomeChat” service in the United States following the earlier launch in Korea. HomeChat service enables users to control home electronics via mobile messengers.
LG Electronics introduced the service first in Korea in April 2014 through cooperation with Line and KakaoTalk. LG Electronics touts HomeChat service as a core service forits smart home systems.
Starting from this month, LG Electronics plans to expand the coverage of HomeChat service starting from the U.S., the largest smart home market in the world, toward other countries.
An LG Electronics official said, “We will provide distinguished customer value through HomeChat in the U.S.,one of the world’s largest smart home markets. With the service, we will strengthen our leadership further in the smart home electronics segment.”
