SK Telecom commercialized a brand-new mobile service that is four times faster than LTE,first in the world.Starting from December 29, SK Telecom launched a 3-Band LTE-A service that is four times faster than LTE, through Samsung Electronics’Galaxy Note 4.
This service takes only 21 seconds to download an 800-MB movie, compared to more than 7 minutes for 3G service. Since the 4G service LTE was introduced first in July 2011, LTE has evolved rapidly toward LTE-A,broadband LTE-A and 3-band LTE-A over the past three years and six months.SK Telecom announced on December 28 that it would kick-start 3-band LTE-A service from December 29.
After completing service preparations, SK Telecom plans to test the stability of the service with a consumer group. If the test is successfully completed, SK Telecom will provide the 3-band LTE-A service to general users starting from next month. The service will be available with Samsung’s Galaxy Note 4 3-Band LTE-A (tentatively named).
