Samsung Electronics was named as the most loved smartphone brand by Americans, first in its history.
According to the American Customer Satisfaction Index website on January 1, Samsung came on top in ACSI's mobile phone category. Samsung gained 81 points, overtaking Apple (79 points),for the first time in its history.
Samsung ranked No. 3 last year with 76 points, while Apple lost 2 points this year, slipping to the No.2 spot. Samsung ranked No. 1 in the ACSI mobile phone category four times since 2004. Since 2011 when the smartphone has become the mainstream device, however, Samsung has hovered at No.2 or 3.
In contrast, Apple,which maintained the top spot in this category since 2012, is overtaken by Samsung this year. Nokia and Motorola jointly ranked No. 3 with 77 points. LG Electronics ranked No. 7 with 73 points, standing behind HTC with 75 and BlackBerry with 74.
