As smartphones became a widely used commodity, the central axis of online shopping is shifting towards mobile.

According to social commerce site Ticket Monster on January 5, the share of mobile in its total sales has been on an upward trend, rising to 70 percent in the fourth quarter of last year from 59 percent in the fourth quarter of 2013, 32 percent in the fourth quarter of 2012, and 22 percent in the second quarter of 2012.

The monthly average share of mobile in its total sales stood at 75 percent in maximum. Thanks to the increase in the share of mobile in overall sales, its total mobile sales marked a robust year to year growth of 99 percent last year.

Ticket Monster predicted that the share of mobile payments in its total sales would exceed 80 percent in 2015.

Key factors behind the rapid growth in mobile shopping include the wide prevalence of smartphones, plus online shopping companies’ efforts to establish an environment where mobile payments can be done safely and easily.
