Hyundai Motor has mounted a dual-clutch seven-speed transmission for its compact sedan Accent, first among its domestic models. Dual-clutch transmission uses two clutches to improve fuel efficiency.
The Korean car maker announced on January 8 that it started selling “Accent Diesel 2015” which is mounted with the seven-speed double clutch transmission (DCT). It mounted the seven-speed DCT on Accent Diesel, instead of its flagship models such as Sonata and Avante.
DCT is a transmission that combines manual transmission and automatic transmission technologies. DCT features less transmission noise and shock, fast transmission and higher fuel efficiency.
A Hyundai Motor official said, “The Accent Diesel is famous with its higher fuel efficiency. DCT matches well with the concept of the Accent Diesel. We will expand the application of DCT to other models on a gradual basis.”
