Eastar Jet Establishes Passenger Service Unit "Eastar Port"

Eastar Jet, a Korean low-cost airline, said on January 13 that it has established Eastar Port, a unit specializing in ticketing, seat assignment, baggage handling, and boarding services. The airline registered the new service affiliate with the city of Gunsan, North Jeolla Province. The newly established company will have 114 employees working in the main office and airports.

Until now, Eastar Jet relied on outsourcing service firms for such services. In addition to the services for passengers, the new unit will take the responsibility related to ground operations like light maintenance work and navigational safety.

Choi Jong-koo, the new Eastar Port president and the former vice president with Eastar Jet, said, "With the founding of the new subsidiary, I hope Eastar Jet could provide excellent services to customers including baggage handling." Eastar Port will hold an opening ceremony on February 1 and begin operations in earnest on the same day.
