
Samsung Electronics revealed its first Tizen operating system-mounted smartphone. The company announced on January 14 that it released its first Tizen smartphone “Samsung Z1” in India, the second largest smartphone market in the world after China.
The popularity of low-price smartphones is particularly high in India whose smartphone market has been growing by 160 percent per year on the back of its huge population. This growth rate is more than four times higher than the global average.
The Samsung Z1 has a retail price of 5,700 rupees, which is equivalent to about 99,000 won.The Z1 is mounted with Samsung’s Tizen OS version 2.3, indicating that Samsung upgraded the operating systemthree times after developing the 2.0 version.
The Tizen phone features a lightweight and fast operating system, offering easy-to-use user experience.With a 4-inch WVGA PLS display and a 1.2-GHz dual-core processor, the Z1 has the weight of 112 grams and the thickness of 9.7mm.
