Kortek Corporation and CEO Lee Han-gu, the grand prize winner in the field of IT

Founded in 1987, Kortek Corporation started with industrial displays and has grown to become a specialist in industrial displays.  It makes special monitors for gaming, medical applications and Digital Information Display (DID) applications.

In the 7th Incheon IT Technology Awards 2009, Kortek has been chosen as a grand prize winner in the field of IT for its product, a Multi Layer Display (MLD), a real 3D impact monitor. The MLD is very useful in the field of 3D effect displays and has been used widely in casino machines as the main display monitor. It has also been used in some other fields such as medicine and advertisement.

MLD provides a lot of functions and specifications such as converting functions from 2D to 3D, a wide view point, and the display of front and rear panels. In a casino, gamers are able to convert their screen modes from Virtual Spinning Reel Games to Video Slots and Video Poker while playing. MLD also provides a Virtual Reel that imitates a real slot machine in terms of trembling and mechanical shape so that gamers feel almost same way that they do when they play with a real slot machine.

Started for the early types of slot machine in the slot machine market, Kortek has developed its unique displays in order to meet the customer demands. They achieved over US$100 million in total export in 2008 and are expected to achieve over US$120 million in 2009. “We are in the process of establishing more opportunities in major countries which are key markets for Kortek in the near future, “ Kortek’s official said.

Acewavetech Co., Ltd and CEO Moon Won-Gyu, the gold prize winner in the field of IT

Acewavetech Co., Ltd (AWT), founded in 2002 with the approval of the Songdo Techno park move-in business plan, has become a developer in various markets such as wireless solutions, digitalized RF/Microwave components, Broadband RF/Microwaves, and high speed digital processing and service providers in markets such as multi-band services, functional modules and subsystems, and components and modules.

The AWT has been chosen as a gold prize winner in the field of IT for its product, the PA-GSM / WiMAX Inter-Modulation Distortion (PIMD) Analyzer. The PIMD Analyzer, a smaller movable gadget that allows to measure distortions of parts of wireless communication equipment such as antennas, cables, connectors, filters, and distribution machines provides measurement functions at a base station or relay station.

The AWT provides superior IMID measures of frequency bands including CDMA, EGSM, GSM, PCS, PCS1900, TD-SCDMA, UMITS, WiBro, AWS and others. It also provides many more superior and unique functions including larger generating power; 44 decibel milliwatts (dBmW) at the largest, reverse IMID measure functions with a larger dynamic range, alarm functions, and protection functions.

As a result of AWT’s efforts this year, it made a contract worth US$6 million to Boonton Electronics in the US.  The company is putting more efforts in sales and marketing to other major electric companies.

LEO Tech Co., Ltd (LEO), founded in 2004 as a registered venture company and prospective small and middle sized company with the approval of INNO-BIZ, has focused on the wireless communication business fields to develop innovative products based on their accumulated research and development. LEO has been chosen as a gold prize winner in the field of IT for its product, the Integration Automatic Meter Reading system which provides a very convenient life in our society.

Until now, meter-men have been necessary to go out and check the numbers of gas meters, electric meters and anything else to pay the bills. But from now on you do not need to do that anymore because this innovative product provides an automatic meter reading system which calculates and inspects the meter automatically for you. Moreover, it not only provides a convenient life but also provides safety in terms of removing the possibility of being threatened by con men posing as meter men.

JMD Engineering and CEO Oh Yong-jun, the grand prize winner in the field of BI

JMD Engineering (JMD) started out with Marvel Shop, an innovative automatic 3D steel program, in its foundation in 2002 and applied for a patent on blueprint generating systems for construction of buildings based on marvel shops in 2003.

In the 7th Incheon IT Technology Awards 2009, JMD has been chosen as a grand prize winner in the field of BI for its innovative technology, the Marvel Shop, a innovative 2D and 3D automatic steel program that specializes in 2D and 3D drawings for huge plants. The Marvel Shop, the Korea’s first 2D and 3D drawing program as 3rd party software for Auto CAD, provides accurate and prompt automation drawing systems which automatically calculates sketches and blueprints from pre-production periods to post production.

Hyundai Digitech ITS and CEO Lim Dong-chun, the gold prize winner in the field of BI

Hyundai Digitech ITS (Digitech) was founded in 1983 and grown by focusing on developing and providing home ITS Products.  This includes automation products such as fingerprint door locks and fingerprint identification systems, and also high end technologies including GPS, DMB, Satellite Antennas, and RFID/USN. The Organizing Committee choose Digitech as a gold prize winner in the field of BI for its product, a dedicated short-range communications application specific integrated circuit modular concept unit (DSRC ASIC MCU), a semiconductor chip for highway toll cards.

The DSRC ASIC MCU, specialized in the Chinese highway toll card market, will be exported into China as Digitech successfully made an MOU with an initiative movement for the Chinese market.  Officials expect that they will be able to visualize actual exports to the Chinese market in the fourth quarter of 2009.

All the above products and technologies will be exhibited at the ITC 2009 exhibition.
