KT, Korea's major mobile telecom service provider, said on February 2 that it signed an agreement with China's Hengdian Group to establish a "smart theme park" that combines features of the Internet of Things and ICT fusion solutions in Wanhua Garden, a video-themed amusement park in Zhejiang Province.
The two companies will install digital signboards, Internet-of-Things beacon apps, and other digital infrastructures to make the visit to the theme park more enjoyable and convenient. KT will also establish a hologram concert hall called "K-Live" within the park and feature K-pop stars and Chinese entertainers. To that end, the telecom service operator will work with major entertainment talent agencies such as YG Entertainment and HB Entertainment, as well as with major 3D imaging and holography companies like District, Macrography, Delusion, and Holotive.
The latest agreement was the result of a joint effort by the Korean Ministry of Science, ICT, and Future Planning and the Chinese Academy of Science to work together in content market development under the so-called Pengyou ("brotherhood") project. Beginning with the hologram concert venue project, KT will expand its business ventures in China by working with Hengdian Group.
