Samsung Electronics’ brand-new smartphone Galaxy S6 won the highest evaluation grade from DisplayMate, a U.S. evaluator of displays.
Galaxy S6’s AMOLED display is supplied by Samsung Display. According to Samsung Display on March 11, DisplayMate extended an Excellent “A” grade for the image quality of Galaxy S6.
A DisplayMate official said, “Samsung Display AMOLED is being upgraded at a remarkable pace through a string of systematic and strategic innovations.”
According to the evaluation report by DisplayMate, the Galaxy S6 has a QHD (2560 x 1440) resolution for the 5.1-inch screen, with the number of pixels almost doubling Galaxy S5’s FHD (1920 x 1080). Galaxy S6’s ppi (pixel per inch) is 577, exceeding not only that of the Galaxy S5 but the Galaxy Note 5’s 518 ppi.
If used in the brightest mode, the Galaxy S5 consumes 0.82 watt of electricity, while the Galaxy S6 0.65 watt. Although it is a common belief that the higher the resolution is, the more electricity the device consumes, the Galaxy S6 is an exceptional case.
