Robot Land Corporation, a firm dedicated to building Robot Land, a fourth-generation theme park, was launched at the Sheraton Incheon Hotel on Aug. 12.
The theme park is expected to open in 2012, while its construction will continue from 2009 until 2013. It will be built in Block 5 of Cheongna Leisure City, a district in the Incheon Free Economic Zone, with a total budget of W784.5 billion (US$627.6 million) from national coffers, municipal and private funds, and foreign investment.
The theme park will consist of recreation facilities, a robot experience hall, an exhibition room, a stadium, an R&D center, and a corporate hall.

Eugene Jun, president of Robot Land Corporation, pledged to build an international tourist attraction where about 4 million people visit annually. He added that Incheon will play a leading role in helping the country become one of the three largest robot powerhouses in the world through the construction of the theme park.
The launching ceremony was attended by Incheon Mayor Ahn Sang-soo and National Assembly Vice Speaker Lee Yoon-sung.
