Samsung Electronics’ brand-new strategic smartphones—Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge—are forecast to be sold more than 50 million units throughout the world this year.
A Hong Kong-based market research firm Counterpoint Research made this prediction at its report titled “Can Galaxy S6 Change the Way ahead for Samsung” released on April 3.
The report predicted that the first-year global sales of the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge would be over 50 million units. This figure is higher than the first-year sales of the Galaxy S4 which is the best-selling model so far among the Galaxy series. In its first year, the Galaxy S4 was sold 45 million units.
The report added that if the Galaxy S6 Edge, which has some difficulties in production due to curved screens, can be produced as scheduled without any delay, the overall sales of the new Galaxy models could reach up to 55 million units this year.
