A culture technology festival will be held to help visitors have hands-on experience in the latest cultural technologies, including digital technology, computer graphics, virtual reality, and games.
The festival will be held at the COEX Convention and Exhibition Center in Seoul from Sept. 8 to 12 under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The festival is part of the ministry's culture technology R&D projects, aspiring to increase people's understanding of the power of cultural content. It also aims to emphasize the fact that the content industry will become more valuable with the help of culture technology.
The festival will consist of an exhibition, an international forum and seminar, and presentations on culture technologies and consultations on technology transfer. Among other things, global leaders in the cultural content industry will share information and knowledge on cultural content with participants of the international forum to be held on Sept. 8 and 9. They will present new paradigms and industrial trends in the 21st century concerning games, animations, virtual reality, mobile and robot content, and digital and media arts.
Carl Rosenthal, a professor of Carnegie Mellon University who produced Shrek and Ants, and Michitaka Hirose, a professor of Tokyo University who is vice chairman of the Virtual Reality Society of Japan, will give keynote speeches.
