
LG Display is making forays into China’s TV market with “Art Slim” models which feature a drastic reduction in both thickness and weight.
LG Display announced on April 16 that it held the Art Slim promotion event in Beijing on April 15 in which about 130 guests, including those from local customer firms, retailers, and major associations were in attendance.
Also attended were China’s major home electronics companies, including Skyworth,Changhong, Konka, Hisense, and Haier which plan to use Art Slim panels for their new products.
The Art Slim, for which LG Display revealed first at the CES 2015, realizes the thickness of 55-inch and 65-inch models at 7.5 mm and 8.2 mm, respectively, similar to the thickness of smartphones.
According to China’s market research firm AVC, the nation’s TV market size is forecast to reach 45.35 million units by 2017.In particular, the slim TV market is expected to grow by 165 percent per year, accounting for 15.4 percent in China’s overall TV market.
