Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) introduced the AMD Opteron EE processor on Aug 31, a six-core Opteron microprocessor that operates on a low, low 40 watts. This is a higher quality chip for consumers who are looking to ease server clutter in dense data center environments.
Consumers will be able to boost computing power without adding more hardware, and companies will be able to reduce energy usage and ease cooling requirements. The AMD Opteron EE processor provides the latest technology in energy efficiency with its six-core product that gives a computing power boost coupled with lower energy usage.
“AMD Opteron EE is designed to deal with things that are generating a great deal of discussion these days in terms of building and running high density data centers for Web services, while doing more with less” said Patrick Patla, Vice President of AMD’s Server and Workstation Division.
