
Korea IT Times conducted an interview with President Lee, Sang-Chul in Dong Seoul College providing combined courses of general courses and on-the-job training (OJT).
Q: Would you please introduce Dong Seoul College (DSC)
A: I am so certain that Dong Seoul College (DSC) with forty-year-long history is cradle of education as a prestigious private institution, which provides students with whole-person education.
We established DSC’s midterm development plan of ‘VISION 2024’ in 2014 and completed 5 key tasks and 25 prior tasks to carry out the vision of ‘world-class college’ in advanced job education.
We are making the utmost efforts to search those talented students suitable for the local society and grow creative persons with high performance and good character. Moreover, we are developing various non-regular curriculums when the regular courses are good enough by providing combined courses of general courses and on-the-job training (OJT).
Q: One year has passed since you became a dean of DSC. Is there any particular change in the college
A: I have been trying to make the college where students and faculties can communicate each other. I will keep up my good work. In order to provide the whole-person education, it is imperative that all members of DSC put their efforts together into the advancement of the college.
Q: What is the best performance for the one year
A: It is desirable that the mind of faculties is positively changing. The major responsibility of a professor is to educate students and make them good persons. Even after a student graduates from DSC, he or she can get a phone call from his or her professor or drop by the college if necessary.
Institutionally, DSC has expanded and strengthened its interview screening, which is one way to select a desperate student. It can screen those students who ignore their career path or adaptability only to apply entering based on their grades. For this, DSC arranges the interviewers from the graduates to explain the merit and the demerit of their major.
The specified interview screening plays an integral role in choosing talented students who desperately want to major in a certain science.

Q: DSC is well known for its customized education system. Would you please explain its meaning and strength
A: In short, the customized education system means providing OJT which is required in a certain industry. It can make the educated students work on the field after the department sets the types of core talented persons and educates them.
The higher education in the future should be the education with the least mismatch. It will make a desirable society where companies and students are in a win-win position.
Q: Is there any comment you want to give to DSC students
A: First and foremost, we should provide the opportunity where those students can dream about his or her future. In line with the creative economy, it is necessary to change the education method and thought. To encourage this, DSC has increased the number of courses about foundation, held in-school competition for foundation and invigorated foundation clubs in school.
On top of that, we will also provide assistances like space and budget to those students and clubs with excellent items. I hope DSC students have their own uniqueness while they are considered having challenge spirit and good social skills.
Q: Please tell us about your dream on DSC
A: I think that a good college should make the atmosphere where the students can develop their potential and get decent jobs after graduation. All the initiatives we are considering are to make DSC become one of those colleges. I hope DSC can pave the way for the students to move forward.
