Based on all the evidence we’ve seen to date – especially that which has arrived over the course of the last week – the arrival of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active seems like a given. And while we expect Samsung to announce the phone quite soon, for the moment we’ve still got a number of pending questions about the handset’s hardware. After all, there’s no guarantee just how closely the Active mode will follow the blueprint of the original GS6, and the little ways it differs will ultimately be what ends up defining the smartphone. Those include big questions like a possible return of microSD support or even removable battery, and while we to learn if either of those pipe dreams have a remote chance of coming true, some other GS6 Active hardware details are now looking confirmed, upon the discovery of the phone’s User Agent Profile on Samsung’s servers.
While there’s not a ton this file can verify, it does offer at least one big spec, confirming the presence of the same quad HD-resolution screen we find on the GS6 itself. You may have considered its presence a given, but until Samsung gives us an official announcement, it’s best not to take any of these specifics for granted.
That’s making the GS6 Active sound like a proper GS6-series device, and not a tricked-out GS5 Active – which, given the rumors about some of those other GS5-holdover features, wouldn’t have been the craziest idea. But with a quad HD screen to offer, the GS6 Active could have some solid mainstream appeal … well, assuming you dig its ruggedized, camouflaged look.
