
The number of "golden cross" items for which the share of mobile shopping sales exceeds that of web sales, increases at major online shopping malls. The main pillar of the e-commerce is shifting from desktop computer-based website shopping towards smartphone-based mobile shopping.
According to online shopping mall operator 11st on May 31, the share of mobile sales exceeded that of web sales particularly in the product categories preferred by female consumers.
The share of mobile sales in the online shopping site's overall sales stood at 70 percent in female apparels, 62 percent in childbirth items, 60 percent in underwear, sleepwear, reshaping innerwear, 59 percent in wet tissues, sanitary pads, and adult pads, 56 percent in pet supplies, and 54 percent in e-coupons/gift certificates/vouchers.
An 11st official said, "The share of mobile sales is rising in the product categories where female consumers are more likely to shop. In this area, we are expanding the scope of services to bring a higher degree of satisfaction to female consumers."
