Following its entry into the fintech business, NHN Entertainment is also set to make forays into the Internet-of-Things market.
NHN Entertainment, once regarded as one of leading game publishers, is transforming itself into an integrated IT service company.
NHN Entertainment held a new product launching ceremony at its headquarters in Pangyo, in the southern outskirts of Seoul, on July 16. The newly launched product was not a game, software, nor a platform. It was an IP camera dubbed “Toast Cam.”
The camera, which resembles a webcam, is a cloud closed-circuit TV since it is applied with a cloud technology which sends the video-taped image automatically into an Internet Data Center. The storage period is extended up to 365 days, with the level of security being upgraded significantly.
The new product is expected to appeal particularly to the B2B market. This was the first time for NHN Entertainment to release a hardware product since its inception. A company official said, “The era of Internet-of-Things where a product harmonizes with a platform is opening up wide. We discovered an IoT growth potential in the IP camera.”
