The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transportation announced on August 12 that it ordered Renault Samsung to recall 392,053 units of SM3 and SM5 due to defects in engine components.
These vehicles have a defective engine mount fixing bolt which has poor fastening performance. The engine mount is a system that reduces engine vibration. If the bolt loosens or malfunctions while driving, it can cause noise and engine sagging, making it difficult to ensure safe driving.
The vehicles subject to the recall are 185,182 units of SM3 produced between April 23, 2009 and June 15, 2015 and 206,871 units of SM5 produced between August 12, 2009 and June 15, 2015. The recall is applicable only to gasoline or LPG fuel models.
The owners of the vehicles concerned can have free repair or exchange their engine mount fixing bolt at Renault Samsung’s service centers starting from August 14.
