Safety management of Hanwha Chemical's plant located in Ulsan, where there were six fatalities last month, turned out to be poor overall, according the government.
The regional labor government agency said on Monday it caught 294 safety violations after having a special labor supervision on the plant for a week following the explosion accident last month.
The special labor supervision is carried out against a workplace where fatalities or serious disaster occurred.
The labor agency ordered the plant to stop working five times and to stop using 11 fault machines. It also exposed 187 cases related to poor performance of electric equipment, and 80 cases related to failure in supervision duty and safety training. The plant was fined 56 million won.
Early last month, the storing place of waste water was exploded at Hanwha Chemical’s Ulsan plant, which took six lives. The police applied for warrant on charge of accidental homicide.
