
The number of returns by South Korea's airlines posted 84 during the last five years and Asian Airlines topped the list with 30 cases, according to the government data.
The data from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport showed that the returns of local airlines for safety issues were 17 cases in 2010, 11 in 2011, 19 in 2012, 12 in 2013 and 25 in 2014.
By company, Asiana Airlines topped the list with 30, followed by Korean Air with 28, Jeju Air with 12, Air Busan and Eastar Jet both 5, Jin Air 2 and T'way Airlines and Air Incheon both 1. Most return issues were solved with the shifts of switch, parts and engines.
The average life-time of local airlines is said to be higher than that of foreign carriers.
Four passenger airlines of Korean Air, two passenger airlines and six cargo aircrafts of Asiana Airlines, and two cargo aircrafts of Air Incheon surpassed 20 years since the production dates.
