An Asiana Airlines plane, en route from Chicago to Incheon International Airport, made an emergency landing due to technical problems at Anchorage International Airport on August 20 at 12:00 p.m. local time.
The emergency landing left 219 passengers on board Asiana Airlines flight OZ 235 stranded.
A flickering engine oil pressure warning light had reportedly precipitated the precautionary emergency landing of the aircraft.
Asiana Airlines, S. Korea’s second largest carrier, disgracefully ranked first among Korean carriers in the number of flight turnbacks and diversions made for safety concerns. The carrier was responsible for 30 of the 84 turnarounds reported over the past five years (2010-2014), according to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT).
