As the plan to build a new railroad linking Ansan in Seoul's west to Yoido has been confirmed, the real estate market in the southwest of the capital city is expected to benefit from the development.
The Ministry of Strategy & Finance and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transportation said on August 17 that they would complete the New Ansan Line by 2023 through a private-public joint investment project.
According to the transportation ministry, the New Ansan Line will connect Ansan with Siheung and Seoul Station. As the first-stage project, the sections between Yoido and Hanyang University Ansan Campus through Gwangmyeong and Gwangmyeong and Siheung City Hall will be built. The two sections will be completed by 2023 after setting out to work in 2017. Once the sections are operational, it will take only 30 minutes from Ansan to Yoido from 1 hour and 30 minutes now.
The New Ansan Line will have links with the West Sea Line (Hongseong to Songsan, Hwaseong) and the Sosa (Bucheon)-Wonshi (Ansan) Line, making it easier for those residing in southern Gyeonggi Province and South Chungcheong Province to commute to Seoul and surrounding areas.
