Samsung Electronics launched its mobile payment service platform “Samsung Pay” a month ago, but Samsung Pay has been used for more than KRW 35 billion's worth of transactions (cumulative) in South Korea.

Samsung Pay, which was launched in S. Korea on August 20, hit KRW 35.1 billion in cumulative transactions in the first month, according to the electronics giant on September 24.
Samsung Pay has been used for 1.5 million transactions, 60% of which were carried out by Galaxy Note 5 users.

The Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy Edge Plus are the first two smartphones to launch with Samsung Pay installed. Samsung Pay’s popularity is said to have helped first-month sales of the Galaxy Note 5 come close to sales of Samsung’s flagship model Galaxy S6.

Samsung Pay broke the 500,000 users mark last week and is on course to hit 600,000 as of now.
Samsung Pay is now available on four Samsung models, including the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, which were released in April.
Samsung will roll out Samsung Pay in the US on September 28 to challenge Apple Pay in the mobile payments space. Following its US launch, Samsung will become available gradually in major markets, including Britain, Spain and China.
