LG Hausys, the building material arm of LG Group, announced on October 13 that it struck a partnership with the Harvard Center for Green Buildings and Cities (CGBC) to supply its construction materials to the CGBC and carry out joint research on future construction materials. Under the partnership, LG Hausys will provide US$300,000 to the CGBC over the next three years.
LG Hausys and Harvard University will work together to equip the CGBC’s headquarters -- a test-bed for energy efficiency retrofits – with LG Hausys’ energy-saving and eco-friendly products, such as windows and doors, low-emissivity glass, insulating materials, Zea flooring material and wallpapers.
The two also plan to jointly work on the development of sustainable, next-generation construction materials that ensure long-term energy performance.
The CGBC was founded in November 2014 to develop green building and urban engineering technologies that can contribute to CO2 emissions reduction and energy conservation throughout the entire lifecycle of a building, from design and construction to operation and demolition.
