
Local shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering said Tuesday it posted 3.1 trillion won in sales, 1.2 trillion won in operating loss and 1.3 trillion won in net loss in the third quarter.
Accordingly, the company's accumulated operating loss surged to 4.3 trillion won. It posted 3.8 trillion won in accumulated net loss and 9.2 trillion won in accumulated sales.
The company saw a 24.1 percent drop in sales compared to the previous year and both operating profits and net income switched to deficit in this quarter.
DSME applied the allowance for bad debts for canceling deals of drillship and long-term bond to the third quarter's earnings. On top of it, the loss occurred in overseas subsidiaries including DeWind and Mangalia dockyard was also applied to the earnings, according to the company.
