LG Electronics’ third-quarter operating profit dipped 36 percent y-o-y to roughly 294 billion won, according to its regulatory filing released on October 29.
Its sales lost 5 percent y-o-y to 14.7 trillion in Q3 but slightly rose from the second quarter’s 14 trillion won thanks to a pickup in TV sales in major markets.
The mobile communications unit, on the other hand, logged 3.37 trillion won in sales and an operating loss of 77.6 billion won. Sales of smartphones reached 14.9 million units in the third quarter, of which 9.7 million units were LTE smartphones.
